Proposals to create an All-Through School to serve St Martins by closing Ifton Heath Primary School and Extending the Age Range of Rhyn Park Secondary School
SUMMARY
Cabinet considered a report on the outcomes from the further consideration on the future of Ifton Heath and Rhyn Park schools agreed by Cabinet on 4 May 2011.

Recommendations:
That Cabinet:
(1) note the recommendation of the Corporate Director - People's Services that an
all-through school would provide the best solution to retaining 3-16 education in the St Martins area;
(2) proceed to publish linked formal proposals to close Ifton Heath Primary School, extend the age range of Rhyn Park Secondary School to cover the primary age range, and offer continuing pupils a place in the extended Rhyn Park all-through school with effect from September 2012;
(3) ask the Corporate Director – People’s Services to continue to work with the schools and the local community to develop the feasibility design study for the extended school;
(4) ask the Corporate Director – People’s Services to continue to work with Rhyn Park School to find ways of resolving the historic deficit by the end of the 2013/14 financial year.
