IT Development Services

The Development Services team provides application development services to the corporate organisation, service directorates and some external clients.

The role of the Development Services team is to provide ICT technical infrastructure, application development and support service to all customers, thereby helping Shropshire County Council to provide excellent services to all citizens of Shropshire.

The Development Services team works alongside the Technology Services team. Their joint aim is to offer objective advice and assistance in the effective use of technology in pursuit of the aims and objectives of the County Council as a whole, and its constituent departments; and to design and develop a cohesive and flexible strategic framework within which all departmental requirements can be accommodated to the overall benefit of the County Council.

Those objectives may be summarised as follows:

• To actively promote the benefits of technology and to encourage the productive application of technology in all its forms.
• To apply a market focus in relation to the identification of customer requirements and responding accordingly with appropriate technology, support and services.
• To introduce customers to new technological developments in order to exploit potential service benefits.
• To identify technology as an alternative method of service delivery, or the potential means of providing a new service.
• To encourage and assist in the development of business, information and technical strategies for each customer.
