Shropshire County Council has been rated as among the best in the country for delivering adult social care confirms the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI)
In the first year that Adult Social Care has its own star rating, Shropshire has scored the top 3 stars.
In reaching their decision the inspectors were particularly impressed with the range of services that help older people to maintain their independence and continue living in their own homes for longer.
Shropshire’s success in this area was also recently singled out for praise in the CSCI National Report ‘Time to Care’
Other areas that drew praise from the inspectors were the way in which national models for delivering specialist mental health services have been adapted to the rural setting, the high performing drug and alcohol services and the continued successful modernisation of services for adults with learning disabilities .
In addition to improvements in services the inspectors concluded that the council was delivering very good value for money.
Not only can people who are eligible to receive social care expect to receive high quality, value for money services, but the CSCI said that the council also had ‘excellent’ prospects for further improvement.
Councillor Barbara Craig, Cabinet Member for Community Services commented ‘This is an acknowledgement of the hard work that the Council has put into Adult Social Services. The performance of our frontline staff is exceptional and the public know that we have their interests at heart’.
