Activities include:

• Afternoon of Entertainment at The Place, Oakengates every May. It showcases some of the county’s older entertainers.
• The Lantern Reading Group is a daytime reading group at the Lantern Community Centre, Meadow Farm Drive in Shrewsbury.  The group welcomes new members so if you are over 60 and like a good discussion about the books you enjoy then please join us.  Meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of each month at 10.00 am and will last 1.5 to 2 hours. The books are supplied each month by the Shropshire Library Service or you may prefer to discuss with the group any books you have enjoyed reading.  Refreshments are available during the morning. • Shrewsbury Library Reading Group The group meets at the Hobbs Room, Shrewsbury Library on the last Friday in the month from 10.00am - 11.30am. Books are supplied by the Library or members can choose the books they read. New members (over the age of 60) are welcome. • Tai Chi classes for beginners to improvers, start on Tuesday 15 January 2008 and will be every Tuesday at 1.30pm - 2.30pm, at the United Reformed Church in Shrewsbury, cost £3.00
• Computer classes for absolute beginners and improvers, start on 15 February 2008 and will be every Friday at 10.00am - noon and 1.00pm - 3.00pm at Louise House, Roman Road in Shrewsbury, cost £2.50. It will be necessary to book.
• Ballroom and Sequence Dancing classes for beginners to improvers, start on Tuesday 8 January 2008 and will be every Tuesday 2.00pm - 4.00pm at St Giles Church Hall, Sutton Way in Shrewsbury, cost £2.50
• Classes in gentle exercise and movement are being taught at Age Concern Day Centres
• Salsa classes for beginners to improvers, start Monday 7 January 2008 and will be every Monday at 11.00am - 12.00 noon at The Lantern, Meadow Farm Drive in Shrewsbury, cost £2.50. Alternatively, beginners classes start on Monday 7 January 2008 and will be every Monday at 2.15-3.15pm at Tan Bank Leisure Centre, Wellington
• Literary competition will be held in 2009
