Morning Call Club (South Shropshire)

The Morning Call Club members are part of a circle of people throughout South Shropshire who, every morning, make a short phone call to another member and receive a call themselves at a prearranged time. Should a club member fail to pick up the phone, the Age Concern co-ordinator is contacted.

Club members nominate two people who can be called on in an emergency: a neighbour who holds a key to the house and a family member or good friend. If the telephone is not picked up, the co-ordinator contacts the neighbour who goes around to the house to check if all is well and to summon help if there are problems.

There are no membership fees – the service is free.
