Exam Results are in! What's next?

young people

It's that time of year that signals exam results and the contemplation of what comes next!

Whether you have received the results you wanted or not it’s important to note that there are options available to all. You may be hoping to achieve a place at college, university or apply for jobs and training – whatever you choose it’s important to carry on learning - this will improve prospects in the future and earning potential.

With this in mind many young people are now choosing apprenticeships - which allow you to gain skills, experience and qualifications while they learn and get paid a wage. London Economics recently calculated that the lifetime benefit of achieving an Apprenticeship was extra earnings of between £48,000 - £117,000.

Here at County Training, as one of Shropshire’s largest training providers, we are keen to support this message and through this important time are offering a host of advice and guidance about vocational training to those who are unsure of what to do next with the aim of helping you on to the right track for a successful career. County Training offers apprenticeships in varied fields including: Business Administration, Childcare, Customer Service, Warehousing and Storage, Hairdressing and Barbering, Health and Social Care, Hospitality and Catering, Information Technology, Management, Teaching Assistant.

We have seen a continual increase in businesses looking for apprentices and currently have 42 vacancies across Shropshire which need to be filled. Now more than ever, apprenticeships are becoming popular amongst those wishing to gain the training, qualifications and experience, and businesses looking to recruit hard working and ambitious young people who are keen to succeed.

Former business administration apprentice Letitia Pugh, Data Assistant at Shropshire Council commented: “After sixth form I considered university but decided an apprenticeship with real experience in a working environment would be more beneficial in the long term – it also meant I would not end up with the huge student loans many of my friends have mounted up. My apprenticeship has been great as it has allowed me to learn all about business, and gain loads of new skills as well as helping me to secure a full time job.”

County Training currently have some really exciting opportunities available, whether you are looking to gain qualifications and experience as part of a gap year, or are looking to start something more long-term.
