Dodmore estate plan appeal

Shropshire Archives has been offered the opportunity to purchase this important 1835 estate plan of Stanton Lacy. The Friends of Shropshire Archives are raising money to ensure that this significant and beautiful document can be made accessible in Shropshire.

This covers the Dodmore estate owned by Frederick Nash in 1835. It gives information of the land and details of drainage which is unusual in a plan of this date. The plan also includes a delightful representation of a half timbered house on the estate. Shropshire Archives holds other property deeds and documents relating to Frederick Nash which will be complemented by this plan.

Any donations received by Shropshire Archives will go to this appeal and you can contribute directly downloading the attached PDF form.

Transfer of District Authority records

Most of our District Authority records from 1835 to 1974 are now housed at an outstore and will need to be ordered in advance. Records ordered by 8pm on Thursday will be available to view in our Search Room from the following Wednesday. The collections which will be affected are DA2-DA5, DA7-DA34, DA41-DA45. New to Shropshire Archives?

We are running introductory tours to Shropshire Archives on a Friday morning at 10.30am.

Volunteers from the Shropshire Family History Society are available to help visitors to Shropshire Archives on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings from 10am-1pm.
