Conflict and memory: a brief history of war memorials of the first and second world wars
This booklet looks at war memorials in Shropshire and the people featured on them. It has been produced by Shropshire Archives and Shropshire Regimental Museum to mark the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

Origins and Evolution: The Darwin family and Shropshire
On the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth we take this opportunity to place him in context, find out more about his family, his times and the places he grew up in.
A day of talks and visits organised jointly by the Friends of Shropshire Archives and Shropshire Archaeological & Historical Society.

Discover Shropshire 2008
Try something new for 2008! In 2008, Shropshire Archives and Shropshire County Council's Cultural Services are organising events, walks, talks and activities. These celebrate Shropshire's history as well as the 50th anniversary of a legal record of rights of access to the Shropshire countryside and the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Shropshire Hills as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Never visited Shropshire Archives before? Don't know how to find the information you want? If so, we invite you to join one of our tours for new visitors to Shropshire Archives.
The tours are aimed at helping you find your way around the numerous sources available in the public rooms at Shropshire Archives. Tours are held every Thursday at 10.30am and last 20-30 minutes. Please email Shropshire Archives at archives@shropshire.gov.uk to reserve a place. We look forward to seeing you!
