Getting here

The Centre is located just off the A49 on the south edge of Craven Arms.

The shop

Our gift shop is open throughout the day. You can buy anything from a Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre pencil to local, handcrafted pottery. We also stock a wide range of Ordnance Survey maps and walks leaflets. Or you might just want to pop in to buy a postcard.

The cafe

The cafe is open everyday from 10.00am and closes at 4.00pm in the winter and 5.00pm in the summer.

A wide range of sandwiches and other snacks are available throughout the day. Everyday between 12.00pm and 2.00pm a selection of homemade hot lunches is available, this always includes at least one vegetarian option. We try to use as much local produce as possible, so you may well be eating Shropshire steak and Shropshire ale pie or quiche made with eggs from the Clun valley.

Whatever your special dietary requirements, we can almost always rustle up something to tickle your tastebuds - just ask at the counter if you need any information, help or suggestions.

Picnics

Visitors are more than welcome to come along and have a picnic in the Onny Meadows.
As well as six picnic tables immediately behind the Centre, there are a number of picnic tables at various locations around the meadows. Or you can always just bring a rug and pick a spot you fancy!
Please help us keep Onny Meadows tidy.

Parking

There is free onsite parking for both cars and coaches.
Our car park is free and available for use by visitors from 10.00am until we close each day. (Should you visit at very busy times there is further parking in the town car park, 5 minutes walk away off Corvedale Road, this is a pay and display car park.)
The car park includes three disabled parking spaces immediately adjacent to the front of the building.

Other facilities and accessibility

Baby changing facilities are available in the disabled toilets.
Dads are more than welcome to take their daughters to the disabled toilets instead of into the gents, should they wish.
The Centre is fully accessible and the Secret Hills exhibition has interpretation sensitive to the needs of people with disabilities, there is an induction loop in the balloon ride.
We have modern disabled toilets.
We have an all-weather hard-standing circular path around the meadows that is wheelchair friendly.
We have a wheelchair on site which visitors may borrow - contact us before your visit to reserve it.
Assistance dogs are welcome in the building.
All dogs are welcome to visit the Onny Meadows with their owners as long as you clean up after them - dog bins and gloves are provided on site. The cafe team will happily provide them with a bowl of water to drink outside if they're a bit hot after exploring the meadows with you!
