We're home to Craven Arms library. If you haven't been to a library for a while you might not realise everything the library has to offer: Not only can you pop in to browse and borrow from the usual adult and junior books, but we also have a range of audiobooks and DVDs too.
The Craven Arms and District Local History and Family Centre is based at the library. Microfiche of parish registers and copies of interesting documents related to the area are available to the public by arrangement. Our reference collection is also being enhanced with the addition of more books about the community. Area residents past and present are encouraged to share memorabilia and local information - which can either be returned or stored in the archives - with the group. Volunteers are available every Friday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to offer advice and answer questions about the local area and researching family history. Just drop in.
You can use our free PCs which have Internet access. Even if you're not a member of the library we can sign you on as a guest. The building is also a free Wi-Fi hotspot.
The Library Reading Group meets on the second Wednesday of the each month from 10.30 am to 12.00 pm.
A free Baby and Toddler Story Time is held every Thursday. During term-time there are two sessions: 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm and 2:15 pm - 2:45 pm. During school holidays there is one session: 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm. Young children can take part in a fun-filled session including rhymes, stories, crafts or music. Free of charge.
We also have the Homework Club, which offers junior and senior sessions Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during term-time as well as special activities in the holidays. Pop in on one of their usual afternoons and have a chat with one of the coordinators if you'd like your children to come along.
Craven Arms Library is part of the countywide Library Service. The team at the discovery Centre manage it with support from Ludlow Library as part of the South Shropshire Library Area. For more information about the entire library service follow the link on this page.
