What we've done so far (2016-17)

The Big Conversation survey 2015/16 focused on the services people felt were important and how we could all make resources go further; we used this information to help inform and publish our corporate plan.

In 2016/17 we wanted to gather feedback on council priorities, and better understand the likely impact of changes on people living and working in the county. The activities we undertook included:

  • Publishing a survey – conducted online between November 2016 and February 2017 with individuals, businesses and other groups
  • In addition to the survey we worked alongside voluntary, community and public sector partners to undertake face to face engagement with people unlikely to complete the survey
  • Producing reports and detailed analysis of the feedback
  • Updating and refreshing these Big Conversation webpages to ensure all stakeholders have access to detailed information and resources

We heard from over 1,000 people representing a broad cross section of the community. 722 were children and young people, people with disabilities and those who care for them, as well as people who don’t tend to complete online surveys and people on lower incomes.  This means we have a good understanding of the issues for people who are likely to be most affected by service changes, or find the self-funding services difficult.
