Informal Learning

Most of the Broadplaces offer drop-in sessions where there are volunteers on hand to offer advice and support. You can use the laptops at the Broadplace or bring in your own. Details of sessions can be seen on the Broadplaces' individual web page. If there is something specific you would like to do e.g. print the pictures from your digital camera, tell the volunteers and they will do their best to help you. Visit 'Latest News' for activities running in the future.

Formal learning

Local colleges use many of the Broadplaces to deliver learning to the local community. Llanymynech, Clee Hill and Craven Arms run a range of courses for those wanting to learn more about using a computer. Computer courses are also run by the Adult, Community Learning team. Visit The Gateway for more details.

If you would like a specific course to be run in your local Broadplace tell the Co-ordinator who will get a list together to pass onto the nearest college.

Clubs and groups

If there are a group of people with the same interests e.g. Family History, then they can get together and use the IT facilities for specific sessions. In many Broadplaces, group members share their experiences and occasionally club together to pay for a tutor to lead sessions.

Online Courses

The Broadplaces can sell a range of online courses. These include ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence), Photoshop, Web design and management courses. Very reasonably priced, the learner has 12 months to complete the course which can be done on any computer with internet access.

For more information about the courses and prices, contact your local Co-ordinator.

Homework Clubs

For young people who don't have access to broadband at home, a number of Broadplaces run homework clubs after school. As well as a high speed internet connection, there is a range of software, printing facilities and webcams which are all popular with young people. Many Youth Clubs use the Broadplace equipment for fun activities, projects and learning.
