Mandy Thorn is Managing Director of Marches Care Ltd of Shrewsbury and is chair of the Shropshire Business Board and represents Shropshire on the board of the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership.
She also mentors through the Business Board run scheme and says of her involvement: "being able to offer support to local businesses is key in this challenging economic climate.”
Mandy began her working life with the National Bus Company. A career in marketing and communications followed, in Birmingham, London and Johannesburg.
Mandy joined the family business in late 1993; initially setting up and managing a domiciliary care business and then gradually taking over the management of the care home businesses. The business, now a limited company known as Marches Care Ltd, is one of the most established care businesses in Shropshire. Mandy took over as managing director in 2003. Since then she has built the largest care home in Shropshire which opened in 2007 and has seen the company triple in size.
As well as her work with the Shropshire Business Board Mandy is Chair of Shropshire Partners in Care and Vice Chair of the National Care Association, as well as a Director of a recently formed community interest company / Social Enterprise alongside being a Shropshire Business Ambassador.
