We are very pleased to introduce Shropshire Council’s first Corporate Plan.
The plan is based on what local people, businesses and our main partners have told us about what are priorities for them and for their area. It is linked to the wider ambitions for Shropshire through the Shropshire Partnership’s Sustainable Community Strategy 2009 – 2020.
The move to one council has given us the opportunity to look at how we provide services in Shropshire, improving them, making them more efficient and responsive to our communities. The plan sets out the council’s Values, Vision, Aims and Priorities for the next four years. These make sure we stay focussed on the things that will make the most difference to the people of Shropshire. We will be strong and responsive to local and national events, such as the current economic downturn, prioritising activities accordingly.
We are committed to delivering on the promises made in the business case for One Council for Shropshire:
- Strong visible leadership.
- Strong voice for Shropshire.
- Local voice for Shropshire.
- Improved service delivery.
- Better access.
- Improved procurement.
- Financial savings.
We are committed to making Shropshire Council work effectively at the local level. Our Local Joint Committees bring Shropshire Council services and those of our key partners, close to communities. By working alongside Parish and Town Councils we want to give people a powerful say in shaping the future for their communities. Our Corporate Plan will help us to make sure that all services are bought up to the best standard of service across the county.
We are very proud of the way everyone has been working hard to bring our services and people together. We are confident that we have developed a firm foundation for the future – for Shropshire people and for Shropshire Council.
