Setting Little Pixies Nursery
This is a recently opened day nursery located in Kinton a rural farm setting nr, Nesscliffe. We welcome children from 12 weeks until pre-school and are open 8-6pm daily all year round. Little Pixies is recognised by OFSTED and our registration number is EY427812.
Main responsibilities
- To create a nurturing and stimulating environment in which our babies feel secure and confident to start building on the foundations of nursery life.
- To ensure that children are kept safe and that you understand the necessary child protection procedures.
- To work alongside the Owners and manager to provide the highest standards of quality within the nursery, including the environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
- To plan and implement a daily routine that is relevant for this age group, in line with the current EYFS curriculum.
- To work as an effective team member within all areas of the nursery.
- To be responsible for implementing systems of observation and record keeping so that children’s progress and achievements are effectively and regularly assessed. To ensure that initial assessments and learning journeys are completed within set time frames.
- To support the owners and manager to ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily register for both staff and children, incident, accident forms, medication etc.
- To promote and facilitate partnership with parents/guardians, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parental involvement.
- To keep confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.
- Support the development of good practice with regard to special needs and inclusion.
- To work with the owners and manager to ensure that the nursery is a safe and caring environment for children, staff and others, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high and safety procedures are implemented.
- To support the owners and manager during inspections by regulatory bodies and to assist in the implementations of any recommendations.
- To contribute to and implement all nursery policies and procedures and to ensure you work within the agreed Policies.
- To attend relevant training and meetings and provide feedback as required.
- To share responsibility for cleaning duties.
- To work with the named SENCO at Little Pixies as appropriate.
- To be a key person in the development of building relationships with designated children and their families.
- Remain abreast of current developments in childcare and education policies and practice.
- Adhere to Health and Safety policies, to manage risk and ensure that any remedial action is taken immediately.
- Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures e.g fire precautions, dropping off and collection of children.
- To work with other members of the staff implementing the EYFS curriculum to ensure a consistent approach.
- To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by line management.
- To adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Essential requirements
- Minimum Level 3 Childcare qualification or equivalent minimum 2 years post qualification experience with at least 1 year working with under 2’s.
- Paediatric First Aid and Child Protection Training
- Understanding of the role of the Key Person
- Good knowledge of child development
- Sound working knowledge of current legislation and procedures relating to the Children Act 1989, registration, OFSTED inspections.
- Knowledge of H&S, food hygiene practices & procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of effective team work, including staff and working positively with parents/carers.
- Ability to work within the framework of the EYFS to achieve a good quality curriculum for the nursery.
- Ability to prepare clear information for owners, manager, staff, parents/carers both written (including use of ICT) and oral.
- Ability to liaise with parents and other professionals in respect of children with special educational needs.
- Ability to work as part of a team and actively participate as a team member.
- Ability to develop good relationships with staff, children and parents/carers.
- Experience of record keeping, monitoring, programmed planning and report writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience of providing a broad curriculum.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to deal sensitively and in confidence with a wide range of issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- To be flexible and adaptable to changes.
Pay: Dependant on experience.
Hours to be worked: Flexible circa 30 – 40 hours per week.
