How to become a registered childcare provider

The beginning of the process is to attend a 'Finding out about becoming a registered childcare provider' session (session 1).

Session 1
This 2 hour interactive session focusses on

  • The Early Years/Childcare Registers and their requirements
  • The different types of childcare
  • Preparing for registration

For those of you who would like to make the exciting commitment to becoming a Registered Childminder you will need to attend a 'Childminder registration support' session (session 2).

Session 2
This 2 hour interactive session focusses on:

  • Working with children and their families
  • The step by step approach to registration with Ofsted
  • The training and support available
  • Preparing for your Ofsted inspection

This second session is in addition to session 1 and cannot be accessed separately. Ofsted application forms for childminder registration will only be available at this session

Please note that the sessions offered here are for people living within the Shropshire County Council boundaries only. Other authorities will run their own sessions.

If you feel that you would like information about other careers within the field of working with children and young people, you are welcome to attend a ‘Making Choices’ session to explore the options.

We look forward to offering you the necessary support, advice and assistance so that you can make the most of current opportunities within this field.
