Welcome to the webpage for the Inter-Agency Child Protection Procedures for Safeguarding Children in Shropshire.

These procedures are updated twice yearly and the latest update took place at the end of April 2008.

The procedures have been introduced in response to Working Together to Safeguard Children April 2006. They reflect the most up-to-date legislation, accepted best practice and comply with the latest government guidance including Every Child Matters, the Children Act 2004, the Bichard Enquiry, the Laming Report 2003 and the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

The electronic Procedures Manual has been created as part of a joint commission with Tri-X Childcare by Shropshire’s Safeguarding Children Boards and the Safeguarding Children Boards in Hereford and Worcestershire.

Shropshire’s Safeguarding Children Board has been fully involved in the sharing of expertise and best practice across the authorities. An extensive consultation with practitioners has also taken place which has resulted in a set of Child Protection Procedures that will ensure consistent practice and terminology across the region and that also cover the boundaries for West Mercia Police and the National Offender Management Service in the region.

The Procedures have recently been updated and where changes have taken place or new procedures have been added you will be able to see this reflected on the contents page. New procedures coming on line before the next update will be added on this home page.

There is now a new sub section on the left hand side covering the Child Death Review Panels and a document on the right hand side covering good practice for all agencies in Record Keeping
