Welcome to the webpage for the Inter-Agency Child Protection Procedures for Safeguarding Children in Shropshire.
To access the Child Protection Procedures, please go to the link at the bottom of the page named Child Protection Procedures.
The electronic Procedures Manual has been created as part of a joint commission with Tri-X Childcare by Shropshire’s Safeguarding Children Boards and the Safeguarding Children Boards in Hereford, Worcestershire and Telford and Wrekin.
Shropshire’s Safeguarding Children Board has been fully involved in the sharing of expertise and best practice across the authorities. An extensive consultation with practitioners has also taken place which has resulted in a set of Child Protection Procedures that will ensure consistent practice and terminology across the region and that also cover the boundaries for West Mercia Police and the National Offender Management Service in the region.
These procedures are updated twice yearly. The last update was in September 2011.
The procedures have been updated in 2011 in response to Working Together to Safeguard Children 2010. They reflect the most up-to-date legislation, accepted best practice and comply with the latest government guidance including the Children Act 2004, the Bichard Enquiry, the Laming Report 2003 and the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
New local procedures for Shropshire have also been added in 2011 including:
- Neglect Strategy and Guidance for Practitioners
- Suicide Prevention - Care Pathway for Children and Young People and a Practitioner's Toolkit
- Child Sexual Exploitation Strategy and Guidance for Practitioners
