What do you need to be an adoptive parent?

We need families from all sorts of different backgrounds. To be an adoptive parent you do not need to be:-

  • Young
  • Rich
  • White
  • Well educated
  • Married
  • In employment
  • or own your own home

Some of our most successful adoptive parents are: single people, couples married or unmarried, people from all sorts of ethnic backgrounds, over 40 years of age, previously divorced or have children already.

You do need to have good enough health and energy to parent a child through to adulthood. It is also important that you have good support networks, a sense of humour, warmth, patience and understanding.

We are especially keen to recruit adoptive families for brothers and sisters and for black and dual heritage children.

For further information on adoption, please call 01743 241 915.
