Sure Start Children's Centres

Sure Start Children’s Centres are places that offer services and support for families with children under five including:

• Early Years Services
• Family support and parental outreach
• Child and family health services
• Support for children and parents with special needs
• Links with Job Centre Plus (Jobs, Training and Money)

Each week various opportunities are provided for parents or carers to stay with their babies or children under five and to enjoy the child-friendly environment and free healthy snack. At every session you will find different activities including playdough, arts and crafts, books, toys, outdoor play, singing and storysacks. Services are available from our bases and we also visit other venues and offer activities. Staff

The staff are all qualified and follow the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage which focuses on children’s early learning in readiness for starting school. Other services such as health visitors visit our sessions and provide activities, so lots of support and information is available in one place in your local area.

Other services

We can also help direct you to parenting advice, health services and information about benefits, work and training, plus there are courses for parents running alongside a free crèche.
