Jobs
Your local Sure Start Children's Centre displays local job vacancies which you may wish to apply for. The Children’s Centre Support Workers will also be able to assist you in applying for jobs and give you advice on contacting and attending your local Job Centre.
Jobcentre Plus (JCP)
JCP have specialist advisers who can offer help if you are looking for work, need guidance on benefits including support with lone parenting and health related issues, or require advice on getting back to work. For further information please follow the Jobcentre link at the bottom of the page
Training
On offer at your local Sure Start Children’s Centre you will find Adult Community Learning courses such as Family First Aid, Food for Thought (cooking healthy recipes) and Early Start (helping your child through play), all with free crèche places to help you attend. Your Children's Centre can also help you progress to further learning and basic skills courses, introduce you to services at your local college or assist you in accessing information from Next Steps (see below).

Staff at your Sure Start Children’s Centre will be able talk to you about the information they hold on Benefits and Returning to Work Assistance and can also help make appointments for you with an appropriate Advisor.

If you use our Children's Centre Services you are entitled to use our advice service.
Shropshire Council's Welfare Advice Team has a wealth of experience in helping people claim their right benefit and tax credit entitlements. Last year we raised over £2 million in extra benefits for our clients who include families with children, older people, people of all ages with physical or mental health problems, young people and people with learning disabilities.

Did you know that Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) customers are now able to access more services on-line through the Directgov website. Using the online Benefits Adviser Service, Customers can also answer questions tailored to their circumstances and are then advised which benefits, pensions or credits they may be entitled to.
