What is the purpose of Joint Commissioning?
To support the development of Shropshire Children’s Trust as a joint planning and commissioning body and to lead the Joint Commissioning and contracting of integrated services for children and young people across Shropshire Children’s Trust partner agencies particularly the PCT and the local authority.
The aims of the Joint Commissioning Team in Shropshire are:
- To promote achievement of the Every Child Matters outcomes for children and young people.
- To promote the vision of “world class commissioning” to ensurebetter health and well-being for all.
- Better care for all.
- Better value for all.
- To promote the development of integrated services using the commissioning cycle.
- To lead the joint commissioning and contracting of services in agreed areas in an efficient and transparent fashion.
- To develop SCT as a joint commissioning body, supporting interagency governance to be at the cutting edge of practice, seeking continuous improvements and influencing developments regionally and nationally.
What do we commission?
We jointly commission services for children and young people:
- Integrated prevention services.
- CAMHS.
- Children with disabilities services.
- Some LAC services.
- Community health services.
- Maternity and neonatal services.
- Parenting Support.
- Prevention Services.
- To provide contracting advice and guidance to the C&YPS Directorate as a whole.
- To support the engagement of the voluntary and community sectors in the work of the Children’s Trust.

Who works in the team?
The team comprises of: Head of Service, 3 Joint Commissioning Managers, a Voluntary and Community Sector Champion, a Contracts Support Officer and an Administration Assistant.
