Shropshire's Compact

Strong and active voluntary and community groups make a vital contribution to the quality of life of people in Shropshire.

The Compact is an agreed framework that guides the relationship between Shropshire County Council and the Voluntary and Community Sector. It represents what local partners have agreed to and reflects the realities of local circumstances.

We hope it will be a firm foundation for future development and partnership.

The basis of the Compact is the recognition of the mutual advantage of working more closely together to benefit communities in Shropshire. It also builds on a number of government commitments to support community groups and community activity - acknowledging that these play a crucial role in helping people to change their communities.

It is a living document that should evolve and change over time and it is hoped that other public bodies in Shropshire will eventually become involved with the Compact.
