Community Working is a new service area for Shropshire Council, working with and for the local communities. Full details of how the team helps support local communities are listed on these pages.
A team of officers in each area of the county, northern, central and southern, provide support to local community regeneration and partnership activity, to address local issues and deliver community priorities.
The Community Working team is led by the head of community working supported by three area based teams of 10 officers each, located in the northern, southern and central areas. Each area team has a team leader, who supports local elected members in their community leadership role, and an admin support officer who will be happy to take enquiries from the public and partners.
There are seven Community Officers in each team, focused on specific geographical localities and providing support to local elected members, business and voluntary sectors, with local activity in support of sustainable communities. These officers provide direct support to Local Joint Committees operating in their respective localities.
An Area Partnership Officer for each area is dedicated to support the Area Partnership in making strong links through to the Shropshire Partnership leadership board, as defined by Shropshire's Local Area Agreement. The Area Partnership will help to deliver actions to address local community priorities, and the LAA block groups, as well as helping to deliver actions to address local community priorities.
