Meeting dates for this Local Joint Committee
Next meeting: 7 p.m. Wednesday 24 March Selattyn School
Invitation to next meeting
The next meeting of this Local Joint Committee will be held in Selattyn School on Wednesday 24th March at 7 p.m. As well as the usual themes of looking at previous issues and how these have been addressed by members of the committee since the last meeting, and making decisions on the most recent funding applications, at this meeting we intend to examine the problems faced by primary users of the health services and their carers , when those services are supplied from both sides of a (national) border with very different support mechanisms and rules, causing confusion. This is something which has concerned local people along the Welsh Border, who may be registered with a doctor based on the Welsh side, but need to access other forms of support from agencies on the English side, but without suitable links being signposted at point of contact. We also hope to have a presentation from the Family Information Service.
Report of last meeting
Icy roads and pavements on Monday 11th January meant that we had to postpone this meeting until 4th February.
Local council and parish council representatives answered queries.
At this session we concentrated on flooding issues within the LJC area, with the aim of gathering information and details about these concerns. There were representatives from Dwr Cymru. We are setting up a 'Flood Forum' for this LJC area, to continue discussion and monitoring of this important issue and will post the details of the first meeting on this webpage when it is confirmed.
We also had a representative from the Planning Department of Shropshire Council to discuss implications for the area from the new Shropshire Local Development Framework.
One of the most important functions of the meeting was to agree formally on the recommendations made by the committee for distribution of this round of funding to applicants. We had 10 applications ranging widely over local groups within the area and their needs.
