Residents of Much Wenlock, Brown Clee and Highley attended their second Local Joint Committee Meeting on Wednesday 14th October at the Priory Hall, Much Wenlock
A presentation was given by Shropshire Youth, two detached youth workers talked about their work in general as well as their involvement in the Highley Area. The Local Joint Committee talked about ways of including young people in the work of the LJC and decision making in the future
PC Lippett held a public drop in session half an hour before the LJC and then fed back on some of the issues.
The committee awarded its first grants to:
- Four Parishes Heritage Group - Highley Mining trail visitor information leaflets
- Billingsley Parish Council - Deuxhill notice board
- Eardington Parish Council - Village notice board
- Easthope Shipton and Stanton Long Parish Council - Village notice board Brockton Pre School - Purchase of bikes
- Highley Cricket Club - Purchase a roller
- Highley Summer Pride - Purchase a watering trailer
- Gaskell Recreation Board Management - Refurbishment of large embankment slide
Except in the case of urgency, decisions taken by Local Joint Committees will not be actioned until a period of seven working days has elapsed from the date of the meeting, to allow time for publication and potential call-in by Shropshire Council of these decisions.
Brockton and Shipton Pre School and Highley Cricket Club kindly each did a short presentation describing what getting funding from the LJC would mean to their group. Thank you both very much for attending and speaking.
Public Question time raised the issue of Bridgnoth not being in the Shropshire telephone directory but in the Dudley directory. The Local Joint Committee is supporting this with a letter of support.
The next meeting is on Wednesday 13th January 2010 at Cleobury North Village Hall at 7pm.
