Meeting dates for this Local Joint Committee
Tuesday 23 March - Christ Church Hall, Glebe Road
Despite the bad weather approximately 35 members of the public attended the latest meeting of the Committee at Christ Church on the evening of 12th January. The agenda was dominated by the budget consultation led by the Leader of Shropshire Council, Councillor Keith Barrow. There was a wide-ranging debate with the meals on wheels service and future use of the former Oaklands School site generating most comments.
After the budget PCs Hare and Henley conducted a PACT ("Police and Communities Together") meeting. Concerns were raised about the timings and venue of the police surgeries, traffic speeds, parking on pavements and dog fouling. It was agreed that the officers would report back on these issues at the next meeting.
There was then a presentation on various proposals to ensure children travelling to Oakmeadow School on foot or bicycle are as safe as possible. There was a debate as to the most appropriate place to site a pedestrian crossing on Lythwood Road.
The meeting concluded with a plea to everyone to complete and return the Parish Plan Questionnaire which had been delivered to every household. The response will be crucial to updating the Parish Plan and to identifying the issues local residents regard as priorities for spending the £17,000 allocated to the area"
The next meeting is due to take place on Tuesday 23 March at 7.00pm at Christ Church, Glebe Road. We will feed back there on the results of the questionnaire together with the Committee’s plans for the future.
