Meeting held 15th October 2009 at 7:00pm in the Mereside School, Wenlock Road, Shrewsbury

The Group Manager, Traffic and Highways Engineering explained his role within the council.  He gave a verbal update on the highways issues raised at the pervious meeting.

Traffic lights from Upper Road onto Roman Road - the costs are restrictive

Traffic Lights at Meole Brace Island are currently under review due to an increase in pedestrian and cyclist activity

Sutton Road - The Group Manger explained the results of the speed survey showed that the mean speed was well below the legal limit.

Parking Outside of Millmead Flats on Sutton Road was contributing to controlling traffic speeds and yellow lines would not be introduced.

Meole Brace Parking was under review with possible additional parking restrictions.

Speeding enforcement would take place if appropriate

London Road Cycle Lane is in next years programme

Weight restrictions are enforced where resources allow

A feasibility study into installing ramps at the Steps on Primrose Drive underpass

The Head of Environmental Maintenance (Central) introduced his areas of responsibility

Members of the public split into groups to identify sites for additional litter/dog mess bins

Pigeons --The pest control officer to visit the area and offer advice

West Mercia Police - PACT

Speeding on New College Road
Anti-social Behaviour in Sutton Road
Cycling on Pavements in Longden Road
Drivers not in control of vehicles - mobile phone use or drinking coffee etc

Local Budget Allocations

It was unanimously agreed for Meole, Column and Sutton Local Joint Committee to allocate funding as follows

Up to £2,000 for the provision of additional waste bins across the locality

£2,000 contribution towards setting up a youth club at the Trinity Centre

£3,234 for the provision of  a Friday Night Project at Belle Vue Youth Club

£800 contribution towards replacement furniture for Meole Brace Scout and Guide Group
