Last meeting
The last meeting was held on 14th January at Radbrook Primary School and despite the bad weather was well attended. An updated version of the Comments, Questions and Suggestions Action Sheet was circulated. This document provides details on the progress made on the issues raised at previous meetings.
Due to concerns raised at previous meetings a senior representative of Arriva Buses attended and listened to concerns raised over the resent changes to the service and updated the meeting that the changes will be reviewed over the next couple of months and feedback provided.
Laura Rowley Shropshire Councils Director of Finance provided a presentation on the future budget and took questions from the meeting.
Concerns were raised about planning applications in particular the new Shelton Hospital. The Chair of the meeting, Councillor Peter Nutting and Lead Officer Nick Taylor advised on the current status of the planning application and the process by which concerned parties may raise there concerns through the planning process.
A crime and community safety update was provided by members of the Local Policing Team advising that crime and anti social behaviour remained at a low level with slight reductions in some areas. Questions were raised concerning the proportion of the crime figures that are domestic violence related and the type and frequency of drugs warrants executed in the area.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance and provided advice on the free home fire safety checks and smoke alarms.
Two funding applications were dealt with. The first approved £6000 to support the Community Led Planning process and the second deferred an Application for £500 from the County Toylibrary service as it is a County wide service and other avenues of funding may be available.
Public questions raised issues around planning, parking around the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, road works on Mytton Oak Road, parking around Woodfield Infants and St Georges Primary, what voluntary sector organisations are active in the area and what was the position re bonfires.
The Community Regeneration Officer, Gwyn Bevan, updated the meeting on work around community facilities, sports facilities, anti social behaviour and the community led planning process. Community Led Planning for the area will commence at 7pm on Wednesday 24th February at the Inn on the Green, Radbrook with subsequent meetings at the same venue on the last Wednesday of every month.
