Have your say in Albrighton on budget and youth services

Residents living in the Albrighton and Cosford area will get the chance to discuss Shropshire Council's budget proposals and discover more about local youth services when the Local Joint Committee for the area meets on Wednesday 10 February.

The meeting, originally set for 14 January 2010, was postponed due to the adverse weather conditions, and will now take place at 7pm at Donington Church Centre, Donington.

Shropshire Youth Service will be giving a presentation on the work of the service in the Albrighton and Cosford area. Residents, particulaly young people, can raise any questions during this presentation.

This will be followed by Laura Rowley, Shropshire Council's Head of Resources giving a presentation about the council's budget proposals for 2010/11, and inviting members of the public to give their views on the priorities for the council in the coming year.

The committee will also be considering a number of funding applications submitted by local community groups and individuals. The committee received 17 applications for support from the £21,000 annual budget.

Residents will also have the opportunity to ask questions on any other issue of local concern, and officers will be providing feedback on questions raised at the previous meeting held on 8 October 2009.

Councillor Malcolm Pate, chairman of the Albrighton and Cosford area LJC, said: “We hope as many residents as possible can attend the meeting and give us their views on the council's budget consultation. It’s really important that we also hear the views of young people about the youth services available to them in this area.

“If you have any issues or subjects which you think are important to the area and should be considered by your local elected representatives, please contact us or come along to the meeting on 10 February. We will be happy to listen and discuss the issues to see if anything can be done for you. Don't forget, it's your meeting.”
