This page provides details about Local Joint Committee 4 Whitchurch and Prees

Meeting dates for this Local Joint Committee

Monday 1 March 2010 Moreton Say Village Hall

This meeting is open to everyone and is a chance for people to find out what is going on in their area and raise issues effecting them. Please make a note in your diaries and expect a warm welcome.

Whitchurch and Prees Local Joint Committee (LJC) consists of members from Shropshire Council and a local parish councillor from Adderley, Moreton Say, Tilstock and Ash, Iightfield Parish Councils and Whitchurch Town Council. The Committee has a budget for this financial year of £50,000 which is available to the local community to fund small local projects that offer benefits to the community. To date £48137.00 has been allocated to 15 projects from within the area.

The last meeting was held on the 2nd December 2009 at Tilstock Village Hall and was attended by approximately 25 members of the public. A Presentation was received from Ian Binks, Regional Manager, British telecom on Broadband coverage in rural areas. In this Ian gave an insight into programmed improvements planned for the service and details of how residents can check the best provision for where they live.

Part of the meeting was dedicated to PACT, Partners and Communities Together, where residents were asked to raise any issues of concern. PC Jones also provided an update on issues raised at the previous meeting.

Shropshire Council Budget Consultation was presented by Laura Rowley, Director Of Resources. The audience was invited to take part in pod voting on a range of budget proposals.

The Local Joint Committee has a budget to fund projects that benefit the wider community - applications for funding were approved for the following projects:

  • Friends of Whitchurch Heritage - £689.
  • Moreton Say Village Hall - £7,000
  • Alport Football Club - £2,000
  • Centre North East Delegated Youth Projects - £7,291

Except in the case of urgency, decisions taken by Local Joint Committees will not be actioned until a period of seven working days has elapsed from the date of the meeting, to allow time for publication and potential call-in by Shropshire Council of these decisions.

The next meeting for the Whitchurch and Prees LJC will take place in Moreton Say Village Hall on Monday 1st March 2010 at 7:00pm.

Applications for funding for the next meeting must be received by 29th January 2010 in order to be considered. Application forms are available in PDF format at the bottom of this page or from the Community Working Team for the northern area on 01939 237570 / 01939 237430.
