Members' declarations of interests

The Register of Members' Financial and Other Interests is attached to this page. A copy of each individual councillor's declaration can be found on their webpage.

Please note that, although every effort is made to keep the electronic version of the register up-to-date, we would advise that the hard copy held at the Shirehall is the definitive version and should be consulted before you place any reliance on information appearing in the electronic version.

The hard copy of the Register, and the Register of Gifts and Hospitality, can be inspected at Shirehall at the following times:

• Monday to Thursday - 9am to 5pm
• Friday - 9am to 4pm

Please contact us to make an appointment to view the registers. Inspection of the registers is free, but we may make a small charge if you need to make copies of the registers.

About the registers

The Register of Financial and Other Interests requires Members to disclose any financial or other interest they have which may influence the decisions they take. This includes details such as:

• what job they do and where are they employed
• whether they have an interest in any land or property within the area of the Authority
• whether any company they are connected with has any contracts with the Authority
• which organisations, public bodies, charities, political groups and trade unions they belong to or hold a position of power in

All 48 Members must sign the County Council's 'Members Code of Conduct'. This states - in accordance with section 81(1) of the Local Government Act 2000 - that all Members must register certain financial and other interests within 28 days of their election or appointment to office. Furthermore, Members must also inform the Authority’s monitoring officer of any changes to these interests within 28 days of becoming aware of these changes. Members are also required to register any gifts or hospitality received within 28 days of receiving it.
