Shropshire Council has decided that with effect from 1 April 2010 unoccupied and unfurnished Council Tax properties will receive a 50 per cent discount following the initial six month exempt period. After 6 months at 50 per cent full Council Tax will then be charged.

If a previous owner/occupier of a property has benefited from three months of the exemption, for example, the new owner/occupier would only be entitled to the remaining three months.
