Do you have the occasional day to spare, or just the odd hour or two to go for a walk?
Perhaps you like to get your hands dirty, enjoy taking practical action?
Maybe you are the observant type, interested in wildlife, and want to record what you see?
Well, there are many ways you can get involved in volunteering with the Outdoor Recreation Service.
We are always looking for people to become volunteer rangers and help out on one or more of our countryside sites. It can be a way of meeting new people, learning new skills or getting a bit of exercise.
Spread across the county from Whitchurch to Craven Arms, Oswestry to Bridgnorth are numerous countryside sites. For a list and a brief description of some of these sites, you may wish to select the link 'Parks and Countryside Sites' or the link to a map of our sites.
Volunteer Site Rangers
Could you act as the eyes and ears of the ranger, patrolling countryside sites and talking to visitors, looking out for fallen trees or reporting any unusual wildlife sightings? Perhaps you could become one of our volunteer site rangers.
Contact us via the details on this page for more information.
Practical Work
If you enjoy spending time in the outdoors and you have some spare time in the week, or perhaps the occasional Saturday or Sunday, you could help us by carrying out a little practical conservation work such as hedgelaying, scrub clearance, tree planting, keeping sites free of litter or footpath clearance.
If you would like to find out more e-mail outdoor.recreation@shropshire.gov.uk
