About the site
Poles Coppice is an attractive ancient oak woodland with disused quarry workings. There are orchids in the main quarry with a few scattered in the small quarry and at the picnic site nearest Pontesbury, there are also a wide range of ancient woodland plants.
If you would like to know how Poles Coppice is being managed a copy of the management plan and associated maps are attached for you to download from this page.
If you or your organisation would like to hold a public event on this site please contact us.
Walking
The site provides quiet circular walks with tremendous views across Pontesbury and the Rea Valley. Paths are over moderately easy terrain with some steep parts, which may be muddy at times.
Parking
If you are travelling by car there is a car park at the end of Pontesbury Hill Road; alternatively there is a car park and picnic area off Callow Lane, the road between Minsterley and Habberley, with access on foot to Poles Coppice.
