Walking the way to Health
‘Walking the way to Health’ (WHI) is a national initiative, developed by Natural England and the British Heart Foundation, which supports and sets standards for led health walks.
WHI aims to encourage people, particularly those who take little exercise, to do regular short walks in their communities. Walks are generally under 1 hour, and each have a volunteer walk leader at the front and back to ensure everyone walks at their own pace.
There are a number of Walking the way to Health groups across Shropshire, and Walking for Life! is always working with local communities to develop more walks where there are currently gaps in provision.
