Countryside service

Our mission is 'to work with local communities to enhance and promote the enjoyment of the countryside and to conserve and enhance Shropshire’s landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage'.
We aim to do this by:

• encouraging and supporting the involvement of communities and individuals in exploring, understanding, managing and conserving their local countryside and green spaces
• developing and promoting opportunities for informal recreation and enjoyment of the countryside
• enhancing and conserving the landscape, wildlife and cultural heritage

In support of these aims the Countryside Service will prioritise the:

• provision of advise and support to local communities that assists them to develop and implement wildlife and recreational improvement actions within their parish/community plans, and to develop a focus for delivering community action on the ground
• recruitment , training and support of volunteers
• provision of recreational opportunities through continual improvement to the county rights of way network, open access land and County Council Countryside Heritage Sites
• support and organisation of events and activities
• management of County Council Countryside Heritage Sites
• development of county wide projects linked to access and wildlife priorities particularly where they generate public interest and action
