Walking for Life!

Walking for Life! is a project aimed at encouraging more people to increase their physical activity levels, and improve their health, through walking activities.

The physical activity opportunities developed by the project are available to everyone but are aimed at those who currently don’t do the recommended levels of physical activity required to maintain their health (at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity on at least 5 days of the week). The initiatives are also targeted at those who may face more barriers to physical activity than others, such as individuals with mental health problems, learning disabilities and older people.

A major theme of the project is to provide a continuum of walking activities in Shropshire, through which people can progress depending on their own limitations. This continuum is being created through the development of three main initiatives:

1. Walking the Way to Health
2. Independent Walking
3. Active Volunteering
