Parish Path Partnership groups at work

Active volunteering is any type of voluntary work that involves some level of physical activity. This may be helping manage footpaths in the countryside, surveying wildlife in your area, or assisting your local school by leading their ‘walking buses’.

Active volunteering is a fantastic way to fit more physical activity into your lifestyle, learn new skills, meet new people, and improve your health all at the same time!

Shropshire County Council offers a range of active volunteering opportunities for you to get involved with, for example:

  • Parish Paths Partnership
  • Volunteer Rangers and Weekend Work Parties at Countryside sites
  • Tree Wardens
  • Community Volunteer groups

Walking for Life! has produced a ‘ Guide to Active Volunteering’ which provides you with all the information you need to find out about the variety of active volunteering opportunities across Shropshire provided by Shropshire County Council and other organisations.
