Shropshire County Council and Ellesmere Town Council plan to make significant improvements to The Mere at Ellesmere during 2008 - 09.

  • the Boathouse Restaurant building will be restored and an extension will include an exhibition, information about the park and new public toilets. The agreed plan is attached to this page.
  • the 19th century designed landscape will be enhanced by opening up historic views and avenues and planting specimen trees.
  • access throughout the park will be improved, including car parks, footpaths and links to Ellesmere town.
  • more people will be encouraged to use the park by providing more events and opportunities for recreation.
  • the project will also provide the opportunity to increase community involvement and volunteering.

Architectural drawings showing the plans for the development of the Boathouse are attached to this page. Take a look at 'boathouse-restaurant-and-visitor-information-centre-plans' and 'boathouse-restaurant-and-visitor-information-centre-elevations'
