What is happening in Mathematics ....

Schools and colleges continue to focus on raising standards of mathematics across the secondary phase into 14 to 19. Teachers are using the new programmes of study as drivers for improving planning, teaching and learning. Pupils can expect an emphasis on the key concepts, skills and processes needed to function and communicate mathematically and to use and apply their mathematics in a range of contexts.

Our CPD provision reflects the need to:

  • raise standards by maintaining our focus on teaching and learning
  • develop the teaching and learning repertoire used in mathematics lessons to engage learners
  • strengthen understanding of topics that are hard to learn and difficult to teach
  • enhance subject leadership
  • extend effective use of resources and ICT
  • develop the role of teaching assistants.
