Continuing Professional Development Newsletter - issue 1

Welcome!

This is the first issue of an electronic newsletter from the Education Advisory Service designed to brief CPD co-ordinators and staff in schools on local, regional and national developments in CPD. The intention is that the newsletter will be sent out each half-term to Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin schools in order to keep you all up to speed with the very latest issues related to the development of the whole school workforce. As this is our first issue, we would welcome your feedback.

CPD Programme - April 2007 to July 2008
The new primary and secondary brochures, now covering four academic terms, are arriving in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin schools. Included in the brochures are details of the service’s Subscription Scheme.

Performance Management and CPD
The implications for those responsible for CPD in schools from the revised regulations on performance management from September 2007 cannot be understated.

Free Training for School Support Workers
An opportunity for school staff to access FREE Support Worker in School (SWIS) training leading to a vocational qualification at Level 2 or 3.

Online Training Needs Analysis (TNA)
How to access this simple online tool to identify the strengths and areas for development in your school workforce. Currently being piloted with teaching assistants but due to be rolled out for teachers and the wider school workforce.
