Target audience

NQTs, experienced teachers, new and experienced leaders and managers, teachers in the early years of their careers, teaching assistants.

Course content

This full day course will give a theoretical background and cover learning styles and teaching strategies.

Intended outcomes

  • An understanding of the problems experienced by pupils having specific difficulties in mathematics
  • A knowledge of some strategies which have proved successful in helping these pupils to progress.

Programme

The programme will include some information on the theoretical background, assessment of difficulties, different learning styles and a variety of strategies which help pupils to progress. There will also be an opportunity to look at a case study of a dyscalculic pupil.
