Target audience

NQTs, experienced teachers, new and experienced leaders and managers, teachers in the early years of their careers, teaching assistants.

Course content

Using the National Curriculum Inclusion Statement as a starting point, the course will explore the principles of inclusion and their implications for teaching and learning.

Intended outcomes

  • To be aware of the principles of inclusion
  • To consider what an inclusive school is like
  • To consider the barriers to inclusion and how to overcome them
  • To consider the main features of inclusive teaching and providing access for all pupils.

Programme

The programme will include:
- the principles of inclusion
- what is an inclusive school?
- overcoming barriers to inclusion
- inclusive teaching.

The day will include looking at inclusion and inclusive practice. We will look at the national curriculum and inclusion, overcoming barriers and accessibility. We will explore the features of the inclusive school, inclusive classroom and inclusive teaching.
