What is happening in Assessment....
The following courses will help support the wide variety of assessment topics that are of particular importance to schools, ranging from:

  • the practical and applied areas of assessment for learning
  • through the statutory areas of National Curriculum testing and external examinations, and
  • leading to the assessment tools that help support school self–evaluation including: tracking pupil progress, data analysis, RAISE-online and Fischer Family Trust.

Secondary Assessment Network Meetings
Subject network meetings will include:
an update on national, local and regional developments in the subject
professional development in a topical subject-related issue
sharing of effective practice with colleagues from other schools.

Autumn Term 2008

The Role of the Assessment Co-ordinator
The aim of the course is to support teachers who have recently been appointed to the role of assessment co-ordinator by:

  • defining the role of the assessment co-ordinator within the school
  • clarifying the statutory assessment, recording and reporting requirements placed upon schools
  • identifying strategies which will help the assessment co-ordinator carry out the role more effectively
  • establishing an action/development plan
  • offering an opportunity for discussion with colleagues.

Assessment for Learning for Teaching Assistants
This course will focus on the elements of assessment for learning and how these can be used effectively in the classroom by teaching assistants.

Assessment for Learning Principles - Session 2 (Secondary)
This is the second of two related, but separate, sessions that pick up on various elements of assessment for learning. In this session the focus will be on curricular target-setting and learning objectives, and peer and self-assessment.
