What is happening in Gifted & Talented....
Schools will be all too aware that the national focus on the provision, attainment and progress of gifted and talented pupils has been increasing in recent years. The introduction of the Institutional Quality Standards (IQS) and Classroom Quality Standards (CQS) as benchmarks alongside our commitment to promote the Challenge Award will have an increased impact in all schools. We still await the strategy guidance on leading teachers and the use of the national gifted and talented database.

The CPD provision is aimed at:

  • keeping co-ordinators for gifted and talented up-to-date and informed of developments in this rapidly developing area through network meetings, and the development of a gifted and talented website
  • promoting and developing the use of IQS, CQS and the Challenge Award, and
  • supporting schools with responding appropriately to future developments in this field.

Secondary Gifted & Talented Network Meetings
Subject network meetings will include:

  • an update on national, local and regional developments in the subject
  • professional development in a topical subject-related issue
  • sharing of effective practice with colleagues from other schools.

Spring 2009

Gifted & Talented Leading Teacher Training
This course will involve two sessions with a gap task in between. It will explore the role of the leading teacher.

Summer Term 2009

Engaging With the Challenge Award
This course will review the Challenge Award and provide information on the process towards full accreditation using exemplars of good practice.
