Course content

How can the universal language of mathematics appear to pupils to be so dull? Find ways of engaging learners through this strand of mathematics.

Intended outcomes

Participants will:

  • have an understanding of key issues in the teaching and learning of number and algebra
  • extend their repertoire of teaching and learning strategies for number and algebra
  • gain confidence in using dynamic geometry software in the classroom
  • follow up key themes from the course in their school.

The programme will include:

  • resources from the National Strategies
  • Ofsted criteria for teaching and learning
  • appropriate use of ICT
  • detailed progression from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3
  • planning for impact in school.
