Target audience

NQTs, experienced teachers, teachers in the early years of their careers, new leaders and managers, teaching assistants.

Course content

There are visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners and it is important that teachers vary their teaching style to ensure that all types of learner are included within their lessons. The course will look at ways of recognising each type of learner and explore methods of teaching mathematics and literacy which will ensure the inclusion of all pupils, whatever their preferred learning style.

Intended outcomes

  • The ability to recognise a pupil's preferred learning style
  • Knowledge of strategies which will suit each type of learner
  • Greater awareness of teaching styles and the importance of variety to ensure that all pupils are included in the learning process.

Programme

The programme will include:
- visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learners
- determining learning styles
- some multi-sensory literacy activities
- some multi-sensory maths activities
- the need to re-visit
- a question of balance.
