Teachers of Year 5 to Year 9, HLTAs.

Course content

How can we teach this dynamic strand of mathematics more effectively? This course goes beyond worksheets and texts to unlock engaging activities for learners.

Intended outcomes

Participants will:
- have an understanding of key issues in the teaching and learning of shape and space
- extend their repertoire of teaching and learning strategies for shape and space
- gain confidence in using dynamic geometry software in the classroom
- follow up themes from the course in their own classrooms.

The programme will include:
- resources from the National Strategies
- Ofsted criteria for teaching and learning
- appropriate use of ICT
- detailed progression from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3
- planning for impact in school.
