Support Staff

What is happening with Support Staff....

In the main members of the school support staff fall into one of four categories:

  • class based support staff supporting teaching and learning eg teaching assistants, HLTAs, learning mentors
  • non class based support staff supporting learning and care eg lunchtime supervisors, technicians, mentors
  • administrative staff
  • building and premises staff.

Over the next twelve months we will ensure there is effective provision for all members of the school support staff through:

  • the introduction of the Training & Development Agency induction programme for school support staff, with sessions available across the county
  • Support Worker in School (SWIS) Level 2 and Level 3 training which is fully funded
  • access to the Edge Hill University web-based tool in order to identify individual training needs.
